I used these to extract many many screws. Most of the times they emerged without even s scratch on them.
However, do not use on softer metals than steel. These just eat up the material, unless you know the screw is not seized.

Bosch Spiral Screw Extractor Sets feature extractors that are ideal for removing stripped screws, bolts and other fasteners. The left-hand flutes grip the metal firmly.
