Bosch MRC23EVSK 2.3 HP Electronic VS Modular Router System (Combo Kit) w/Trigger Control

I purchased the combo kit, and upon opening discovered sawdust in the box and dust packed in the fins on the underside of the router. All packaging seemed factory (outer box, cellophane, etc.). After exchanging at the store for another unit, this one also seemed to have been used (missing 1/2" collet, missing cellophane on fixed base, deep scratches on the clear face plate of the fixed base). All the exterior packaging on this also appears factory with the cardboard box never having been opened. My confidence in the integrity of either the assembly at the factory or the store is low, and I'm uncertain if I will return, exchange (again), or seek replacement components from Bosch.

Bought two years ago for a project and haven't used since because I almost exclusively use my router table and trim router. Today I took it out to use it for the 2nd time ever and first time in the fixed base. Was doing a light pass (less than 1/16) with flush trim bit and it died after less than 2 minutes of use. Led still on, makes a clicking noise but won't turn on. Customer service says I can pay them to fix the router with less than 15 minutes lifetime use. No thanks, I'll cut my losses and curse the Bosch name instead.

The MRC23EVSK router will run for a split second then shuts off. The LED light is on so it has power. I read woodworking threads to see if others have had this problem. Apparently Bosch is well aware of the problem but has been unable or unwilling to fix the problem. I contacted their customer service department and Chris was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, the problem is so common their technician was able to diagnose the problem over the phone and tell me what part I needed to buy. $5.05 for the part and $5 shipping REALLY guys, for something you’ve know about and didn’t fix. The plunge base on the unit is extremely difficult to work as well. I have just put up with it. It is clean, just seems to be a poor design of the plunger. I own many other Bosch tools. Their random orbital sanders have terrible results for their power switches as well. I’ve had to return new sanders 3 times within 3 years. I am considering switching away from Bosch to other higher end product lines.

First, let me say straight out that this router's by far exceed my current capability. I've probably only got about two hours worth of time in actual use. But it's really comforting to know that this is a set I can grow into, rather than outgrow. Every project I use it on, I learn, I perfect my technique, and hone my ability to get even better results. The depth adjust alone makes creeping up on the perfect cut a dependable act and being able to swap bases comes in handier than I would have thought. One minor hangup is that it can sometimes be difficult to remove the motor from the base housing, but it's usually because I don't swap them enough and I've overlooked a latch or safety retention. I don't get to use this router a lot in my current garage setup, but I'm always really happy with the results when I do.

Bought this router when my old one would not handle the job

I purchased this set 3 years ago. It is my go to bench router. Intuitive controls, well designed. I really appreciate the performance this tool constantly gives, Thank You Bosch !

I bought this Router combo over a year ago and with the fixed base in my Router Table and the plunge base it covers all my heavy routing needs as a Guitar Luthier.

I’m very impressed with the build quality and feel it will last many years!

Have this and the trim router. Both are fantastic. I use this for routing larger dados by hand and in my router table. The light and switch in the handle are genius. The precision and features on Bosch routers can’t be beat.
