Not powerful enough to edge
Bought this 3 weeks ago or so. Blade stopped within inches. Tried to cut less deep and same thing. So I went back too my corded edger to cut through it all one last time with that one and then keep it up hopefully with the cordless. stops within a foot. I am patient and not forcing it along hard.
Love your other 20V tools. But this one is too weak.

This unit to me does not spin fast enough. Had to go over the same spot 2-4 times

Safety cover/shield broke and no replacement part
The edger worked well but the plastic safety shield/ guard broke where it connects to the tool so I can no longer use it. I have been trying to get a replacement part and have not been able to find and order it. The tool is under two years old. Warranty would be nice but I need the part and DEWALT has not made it easy to locate and order.

Very difficult to use given it constantly stops when hitting thick grass and some dirt. I've had to do a pass on the highest level, then the next level, and then finally the lowest level, and still it bogs down. I'm using an upgraded Dewalt power pack battery, polymer pack, 5.0 Ah, so it's not a battery issue. I have quite a few Dewalt products, this is definitely not what I expected, it ranks below everything else. It also says that it was assembled in Mexico, but it was marked out with a black marker, yet I can see the wording in bright light. What's the concern here, that if we knew it wasn't assembled in the US we wouldn't buy it?

Great for maintaining edge, hard to create edge
Prior to this I'd used a string trimmer to edge my lawn, but I wanted that professional looking cut against my sidewalk. This edger does deliver a really nice line, however the first time you forge that line its a bit difficult. My edger did slowly make it but I had to do a bunch of back and forth motions to dig out the original trench. Dirt and grass would get stuck in the guard and have to be cleaned out periodically. Once that was done, each successive edging was easy. I also feel comfortable running this right along my sidewalk. After a year of work, it still performs well even though I often see sparks from getting as close as possible to the sidewalk.
Other than the initial cleanout, this edger is easy to use and low maintenance.

Worst Dewalt Tool I've Owned - Save Your Money
I purchased this last season for edging my small yard and have regretted it ever since. It worked well the first few times out but then started only working sporadically and will constantly stall out when being used and require me to regularly stop and restart the keep the blade spinning. Now to cap things off it’s time to change the blade and it is next to impossible to get things off. No directions on whether the bolt is attached cross threaded or normal and even after finding online forums telling you the direction to loosen the bolt won’t budge. I now have a very expensive paper weight. (And before thinking this is just a problem for me, do a quick Google search to see all of the other users with this same issue). I’ve been a Dewalt guy for a long time, but not sure how much longer after using this tool

Dead unit within 3 days, minimal use
We bought this product 3 days ago. I assembled, did a test edge and thought this will work great. Next day, I edge my sidewalks. For the most part it works well. It was not on the deep setting and the unit struggled to get through the soil to the point where I had to slowly lower the blade into the soil numerous times. The batteries used are new (12 months), fully charged and large capacity. The lawn has not been edged in years, so I may be expecting too much. I am sure subsequent edging will go much easier.
Now comes the real problem. It’s dead. The batteries were low and I wasn’t done yet. I charged both high capacity batteries and now the unit won’t turn on, sometimes the blade twitches, but other than that it’s dead. I verified batteries are fully charged by using them on the leaf blower and worked full power.
I was going to return for a new one, but after seeing so many other people with the same issue, I may just return for a refund. Quite disappointed as I’ve been expanding my dewalt line of tools and lost a bit of confidence.

I was given this as a gift to go with my other DeWalt tools. I have been disappointed in the power of the tool. It took me several hours and multiple tries to edge my sidewalk. The tool just doesn't have enough power to make it practical. The blade is also impossible to replace. I reached out to customer service about replacing the blade and they had no feedback. Do not buy this product!

Good luck changing the blade
Had this about a year and it was perfect for what I needed it for. Have all my outdoor tools with dewalt and love how the batteries interchange. Everything was great until I needed to change the blade. There is no stop to keep the blade from turning (have to use a block) and nothing in the manual telling if it is reverse thread or not. Tried chatting with support which was no help. I am assuming loosening it in the direction the blade goes is the way to go but with no luck. Nut blaster and heat guns have not helped. Can not find any information on which way to loosen the nut and I'm stuck with an edger I can't use.
