DeWalt DWE6423K 5" Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander

Bought this a few days ago and very disappointed. Nowhere near as stable and as smooth as the same electric sander Dewalt made 12 years ago that still outperforms this new one. The dust collection is nearly non-existent as 90% of the dust is left outside the bag. There’s no comparison when comparing it against the 13-year old model side-by-side. I thought the dust collection was a cordless model issue which I had tried first and subsequently returned for the corded model but now seeing that they are both useless. Regardless of whether sanding on flat or irregular surfaces, it simply doesn’t work. Plus the hooks on the pad seem to “let go” of the loop side far too soon/easily. Generally loyal to Dewalt but am going to have to explore other brands.

We just had the finished removed from our log sided home. As part of refinishing the siding we are sanding the whole house. I bought my third DeWalt sander, so additional family members could sand at the same time. Bought the same sander because of the experience with my other two Dewalt sanders. They just work!

do not buy this sander. the machine if fine but the velrco pad will not last. I have now replaced the pad 3 times because the back of the pad is a thin fiberglass. the 4 attachment screws seat on the fiberglass film that has a very close tolerance to the vent holes. this fiberglass film soon breaks and the pad will come off. Buy again. and again. and again.

I have had this for about a year now. Seems to work really well. I love the H&L and the adjustable speed. The dust collector works great too.

Early days ,but so far very please with the sander

Ran it for about an hour. Super happy!
July 26,2021 after preparing wood stock for project I got out my brand new sander with a great DeWalt enthusiasm, which lasted about 3 minutes when the sanding disc flew off !!!
I vacummed the pad and the back of the sanding disc. Nope.
I the tried a new sanding disc.
Lasted a minute and it flew off !
Everything else about this tool was 100 per cent.
Tried contacting support by email and it was undeliverable.
No helpful human contact, it seems, if you have a problem.
Very disappointed.
Research says the pad is worn out, so replace it.
How can a brand new pad be worn out?
Thank goodness I have 90 days to return it if not 100 per cent satisfied.
My question is how could a brand name like DeWalt not rectify a problem like this before putting it out in the marketplace.
I bought the DeWalt 8 1/4" jobsite compact table saw last year and it's a super tool.
A sander is a useless tool if doesn't hold a sanding disc.

So glad I was able to purchase this Dewalt DWE6423 orbit sander despite being “out-of-stock” throughout my QC region... finally located one available across the country (literally in Vancouver, BC). Now, I see why it’s so popular and all sold out everywhere. This is one great orbit sander! It does such a great job with the variable speed capacity and the compact size. The dust bag did a fantastic job collecting the dust!

I have used this Sander for quite a while. It has held up very well and has Never let me down.
I use this seander when I can as it is my (go to Sander. Plenty of power and not overy priced.
