I would avoid this one.
So I bought this awhile ago, for “just in case” situations. Never really used it for longer than 2-3 mins, first time of using it for 7+ mins the collar metaled and the element broke. I love Milwaukee, I have probably close to 8k in their tools and packouts. Besides their m12 6 amp batteries this this is my only issues with them.

soldering iron tip
The soldering iron tip burns out very quickly and after some time of use the tin does not stick, I used a 2 amp and a 4 amp battery. I used the original tips and those bought from Amazon, still the same. It seems to me that this is not a problem with the battery or the quality of the tip. This is a defective instrument, it seems to me that it heats up too much

Be careful great when it worked
Bought this because it was hot right away! used it 20 or 30 times around my garage on speaker cables after every solder I would turn it off and then I soldered a # 4 speaker cable together and noticed the end melted. Would not work after that tore apart and found the white heating rod breaks in these. Not worth the money but really wanted it to work rather than a butane iron. Plus I have alot of M12 tools I use. Just my luck though

Don’t last long
Overall the iron worked great. Used 3 times and then the 4th time it was a no go. Went to local tool supply that I buy all my m18 m12 tools. They also have Milwaukee service center. They looked at it but didn’t see why it wasn’t working. Bought new one and life went on. Now new one only used twice no longer heats up

NO Product Design issue it Melts !
I own a lot of Milwaukee cordless products. I haven't had much issues until I used this product. Yes I fell victim to the Melt Down. After 15mins of used the plastic collar melted and the tip bent over. Milwaukee needs to recall this defected product too many customers have had the same melting issues... This is impacting your brand. I sign of a good company is what they do when there products are defective don't be a Boeing.

Milwaukee does not care about this tool
The plastic collar melted as mentioned in other reviews and photos. There is no available replacement part that could simply be mailed out. The remedy requires a trip to the fedex office and sending in the entire tool, even though that external plastic collar can be changed out by simply unscrewing it with your fingertips. The parts diagram on the specifications sheet pictures the tool incorrectly. I am heavily invested in Milwaukee tools, but disappointed that the company does not think enough of this product to do a decent job of it.

The Soldering Iron that can get into tight places
The soldering iron heats up quickly and it is so easy to use. There is not any cord to get in the way or propane to constantly refill. It works great in tight places, such as soldering wires in my Chevelle under the dash and when i rewired our car trailer. Good light indicator to show when it is on and when it has cooled off.
