Milwaukee 2724-20 M18 FUEL Blower (Bare Tool)

Got this as a free tool when buying battery. It is nice, easy to use and for the wife to use. I have used gas powered blowies for some time. Is different to go to electric powered one. I was surprised on the power it had for the size. I would properly won't use it for commercial property maintenance but for a home owner it is great. It is the run time. My gas backpack blower will last longer much longer but i do like that i don't have to use gas.

Light weight and powerful , would buy other tools.

Great quality, powerful battery, easy assembly, QUIET operation. I would have given it 5 stars but the output volume is not as strong as I expected. It should include a nozzle or two that would increase the output velocity without a significant decrease in air volume. 3rd party nozzles on Amazon get bad reviews for improper sizing, reduced air volume, etc. Does Milwaukee sell nozzles for this product?

So Ive been contemplating picking up a battery powered blower for a while now, and found this blower on sale. I figured why not and picked one up. I got it home and charged up the battery. I went to try it next day after work, and while it works, I was left feeling a little “meh” about it..

So heres the story: ive been using cheap gas powered blowers for quite some time and eventually got sick of trying to keep those running so i upgraded to a very expensive stihl handheld gas blower which was very highly rated by a leading magazine and for a handheld blower its performance has been impressive! The big downside is that its also very noisy. By the time I get home from work and finish doing the outside chores, its usually later and dark out and i try to be respectful of my neighbors and not run noisy equipment while people are trying to wind down or put small children to bed. Thats where the m18 fuel blower comes in.. they are touted as being very powerful while also being much quieter than similar gas powered machines. They are not silent, but im very happy with the low noise output and even the pitch of the noise. Most gas blowers are outright annoying. The engines are noisy because they have to work hard to move all that air, and the blower design itself only adds to the noise. The drone of a leafblower is just one of those sounds that makes people cringe. This Milwaukee has a more modern jet-type design. It has a fan with a stator that increases the air “pressure”/velocity and helps guide it out the blower tube. Its operation is very similar to a jet-ski pump and even an actual jet engine! Its a fairly simple design and its operation is slightly more efficient, and has lower noise (im a geek about this stuff). It has an electrical motor noise/whine accompanied by a subdued whooosh while in operation which is much more pleasant than a gas blower. All that said, it produces a good volume of air which is great for moving a large quantity of debris, BUT this machine lacks the air velocity that gas machines do which gives them a more powerful stream of air that is better for moving heavier debris like wet leaves or those pesky clumps of grass that always seem to stick to the driveway or sidewalk.. So why cant they have a large volume of air and make the air velocity higher and blow (pun intended haha) these gas powered machines away you might ask??? Well, theres a trade off.. It takes a lot of power to move a lot of air, and it takes even more power to move a lot of air at high velocity! This is where battery powered equipment is at a disadvantage. The high amperage required to move a lot of air fast is just not feasible with current technology at a price an average consumer would be willing to spend or without being weighed down by a very large battery. So with this you trade off and get more air volume, and a usable amount of battery life. In simpler terms, imagine trying to blow out a birthday candle.. you can open your mouth wide and exhale quickly towards the candle but you may not be able to put it out (this takes less effort and provides high volume much like the milwaukee blower).. But if you close your mouth and forcefully blow through your lips, you will be able to blow it out (this takes more effort, but is high volume and high velocity (like many gas blowers).. So again the Milwaukee blower without the high velocity is just okay at moving larger or heavier debris, and the relatively short battery life means you will be wishing for a gas machine if you need to do anything more than a basic cleanup after cutting the grass. (It gives approx 20 min of runtime on an 8.0ah battery). All that said, im not mad that i bought it, and it does ok for its intended purpose, but i wouldn’t say its great. I’ll definitely be keeping my gas blower around for tougher jobs or use in the fall when all the leaves come down.

Great so far. I'm using the blower to blow off my front porch after stacking firewood.
The blower is quite and not too heavy as some other brands I handles while deciding which to purchase.
