Changes drive direction at random
My whole company for the southwest techs bought this drill and we use throughout the day everyday of the week. Battery lasts a long time and don't take long to charge, but the drive direction decides to change direction at random when unscrewing hardwareof all sorts, damaging most hardware in our field of work or the operator's hand while holding the drill not being ready for that direction. Multiple techs go through this with their drill and it sucks.

Have had this drill as my EDC go-to drill for a year now. Fantastic all around option with just enough compact style to help out in plenty of jams what'd my old school hammer drill just didn't and couldn't fit. Despite the plastic chuck I've never had any issues. Works great with 1.7ah powerstack! Light with plenty of juice and plenty of run time. I throw a larger battery on for extreme duties, mixing in particular but the tool holds up to that task beyond my expectations. I was hesitant to give it a turn at the heavy duty stuff at first due to its compact size though I should've throw. It in full rotation right away and not fussed with the heavier stuff. Appreciate this one more and more as my carpal tunnel has worsened from other things. Plan yo replace immediately if anything ever happens to the tough little guy

Bought a battery kit, good drill came with it!
Purchased this kit since it comes with DeWalt battery kit and the drill came with it. Astounded with the quality of the drill itself!
I already have DeWalt XR drill and impact combo kit and DeWalt 12V drill and impact driver. But the drill came with this kit is one of its kind as well, not obsolete. Surely, DCD796 does not have strong torque as its higher end models nor hammering function. This is basically an 'entry' gate for DeWalt brushless ecosystem.
I have more expensive, and more powerful, yet quite compact DCD800. But being not a tradesman myself, I felt the XR Compact drill kind of heavy. But this DCD794 felt almost light as 12V tools and the compact form factor which I usually take them when an odd angle drilling/screwing is needed.
Now I think I can turn entire fleet of my 12V tools for indoor tasks and electronics, and let this DCD796 to replace those 12V tools for outdoor and woodworking stuff. This drill can drill pocket holes way more efficiently than an old brushed hammer drill I have. Also, drilling any pilot hole with countersink bit into pine, spruce, or fur is not a problem at all. Now I do not have to change drill bits for DCD800 every time a pocket hole drilling needed.
Even better, I am considering a portable drill press stand and mount DCD800 there then use this drill as a main driver. Sure this drill isn't as strong as XR series. But this is enough in most cases unless I have to make 3" holes into a lumber.
Lacking hammer function can be a bummer for some cases. But as long as I live in a wooden house, masonry need is pretty much limited. Also, if I really need to drill into a concrete, such as building a new deck..., I would rather rent a rotary hammer drill than using a drill/driver with hammer function.
One gripe is the chuck itself is made of plastic. That is all.

This little drill here, man oh man.! Be careful with the power behind it. It’s a super strong drill for such a small frame. Don’t let it’s size fool you or you’ll hurt your wrist.! I can’t wait for the impact version of this.! I love it.!

Perfect size. Light weight
I used this 20 volt compact drill for an entire day on a cabinet project. The compact size made it great for getting into tighter spaces. It had plenty of torque and did an amazing job. The battery life was more than enough, lasted all day. I liked how light weight it was. Anytime I can lighted my tool bag is a plus. I would recommend this to anyone looking for light weight power tools.

My first time using this drill/driver combo was when installing new patio speakers. This model drill was the perfect size to use in tight attic spaces to penetrate through wall studs as well as more basic use with driver bits installing the speakers themselves on the patio. Not having to switch between a drill and driver provides a big benefit for someone who doesn't want to travel with a lot of tools for the job. I believe this combo would be the perfect fit for someone just starting out with their tool collection and wants to have a good all around option without having to purchase multiple cordless tools.

Great compact tool with power
The compact design of the atomic drill is great for tighter spaces that my other drills do not fit. The drill is light weight which makes it possible to work over head longer without getting worn out. Though the size and weight are less than others it still delivers a good amount of power for most applications.

The days of bulky cordless drills are over. This compact cordless drill will get any task done without fatigue. Even with the compact size it is still able to provide an impressive amount of power! The battery life on the 20v lithium batteries are impressive too. Overall I am very happy with this drill.

DEWALT Atomic Compact Drill/Driver
The atomic drill showed up just in time for a window installation. The drill/driver had tons of power to torque down concrete fasteners to secure the window. Its compact size and weight is what I like about the drill the most! Another great product by DEWALT!
