Want to like it more but the quality is lacking
Bought this saw to replace my 10" single bevel miter saw. Right out of the box you notice scratches in the finish, and rough sharp casting material left on corners. The first job I had for the saw was installing baseboard trim making cuts for coping inside corners. The slide action was extremely unsmooth which made making clean precise sliding cuts nearly impossible. Changing the blade was difficult as it requires removing part of the lower blade guard, this was not detailed in the manual, but it is simply impossible to remove or install blades without removing the guard unless you like to bend your saw blades or force them past protruding screws. Finally, the saw jumps on startup, and the dust collection was also not as advertised. After only a few cuts I checked the collection bag and I think there was more dust on and around the saw then in the bag. Overall the slide action was my biggest complaint, but coupled with the other issues it made the decision to return the saw much easier. The design has many attractive and well thought out features, but at $650 the quality was lacking, and I think Dewalt missed the mark in the most important places. I'm a diehard Dewalt owner, which made this painful for me, I wanted to like it more. I'm looking at buying the Makita 12" dual bevel sliding compound miter saw next. Come on Dewalt...
