Simpson Strong-Tie MMLUI39 Installation Overview
- Install nails with a powered nail tool, ensuring face protection and straight installation through the nailing grid.
- Adjust nail tool pressure to avoid overdriving nails and causing steel dimpling.
- Place at least one 8d x 1 1/2" or 10d x 1 1/2" nail into each nailing grid.
- Add nails as per the MMLU Installation and Load Table for increased capacity.
- Ensure minimum vertical spacing of nails in the same grid is 1/2" without splitting the wood header.
- Verify MMLU height equals or exceeds 60% of joist height for rotation resistance.
- Install I-joist web stiffeners or floor truss end vertical webs when side flanges do not support the top flange or chord.
